dynamical halo model [dī′nam·ə·kəl ′hā·lō ‚mäd·əl] (astronomy) A model for the behavior of cosmic rays in the Galaxy in which the cosmic rays are produced in a thin disk near the central plane and then diffuse through the disk and into an outwardly convecting halo to an outer boundary at a distance of perhaps several kiloparsecs from the central plane.
