any of a number of instruments for measuring power or force

dynamometer [‚dī·nə′mäm·əd·ər]
(engineering)
An instrument in which current, voltage, or power is measured by the force between a fixed coil and a moving coil.
A special type of electric rotating machine used to measure the output torque or driving torque of rotating machinery by the elastic deformation produced.
