e-prescribing
(Electronic-PRESCRIBING) The electronic creation and distribution of medical prescriptions from doctors to pharmacists. Using a computer, the doctor can review drug and formulary coverage and print the prescription for the patient or transmit it directly to the pharmacy. The data may also be added to the patient's electronic health record (EHR). See healthcare IT.
