eschscholtzia: see poppy poppy, common name for some members of the Papaveraceae, a family composed chiefly of herbs of the Northern Hemisphere having a characteristic milky or colored sap.
..... Click the link for more information. . Eschscholtzia a genus of annual or perennial herbs of the family Papaveraceae. The stems and the ternately dissected leaves are bluish green. The solitary flowers are on long peduncles and have a yellow or reddish orange corolla. There are from eight to ten species (or more than 120 subspecies), distributed in the dry western regions of North America, primarily in California.
