The NIST indicating system simultaneously samples the excitation voltage and the load cell output voltage with an 8 1/2 digit computing multimeter operating in voltage-ratio mode; the multimeter calculates the corresponding voltage ratio internally and returns that value in digital form to the computer.
Additional specs include excitation voltages, electrical connections--whether they should be shielded or not--and overload circuitry if necessary.
The features designed into the Eclipse include: a 1/8 DIN cutout, a NEMA 4x rating, a depth of less than 4" to save panel space, simultaneous calibration of input ranges, removable screw terminals, a universal power supply, and excitation voltage, among other capabilities.
