Photog an instrument for measuring the intensity of light, usually by means of a photocell, so that the suitable camera settings of shutter speed and f-number (or lens aperture) can be determined

exposure meter [ik′spō·zhər ‚mēd·ər]
(optics)
An instrument used to measure the intensity of light reflected from an object, for the purpose of determining proper camera exposure.
