A beam of particles which originate in a particle accelerator and are directed outside the accelerator so that they can be used for experiments with external apparatus.

As it is usually unable to be removed by surgery, external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) is an attractive option for managing the disease.
External beam radiation is emitted from a machine outside the body and internal radiation is emitted from pellets implanted into the tumor.
It is divided into two types - external beam and radioactive pellets.
