A high-molecular-weight, straight-chain primary alcohol derived from natural fats and oils; includes lauryl, stearyl, oleyl, and linoleyl alcohols; used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, detergents, plastics, and lube oils and in textile manufacture.
