Feldsher

 

a medical practitioner with a secondary education. In the USSR’s urban and regional health-care and treatment centers, feldshers assist and are supervised by physicians. At the medical assistance and obstetrics stations located in rural areas, feldshers work independently as premedics, providing inpatient and outpatient treatment and preventive care and implementing public health and antiepidemic measures. Feldshers receive their training in medical schools.
