| The adipose tissue also secretes factors that are implicated in inflammatory processes, blood pressure, coagulation and fibrinolysis that can influence the development of cardiovascular disease. In an in vitro study, (18) enhancement of fibrinolysis using US was observed, and the authors concluded that US at 1 MHz potentiates enzymatic fibrinolysis by nonthermal means. While several studies have demonstrated exercise-induced activation of both fibrinolysis and coagulation (8), the effect of marathon running on hemostatic balance has not been well studied. |
