flatpack
A plastic, square surface mount chip package that contains leads (pins) on all four sides that extend straight outward. The leads are bent and cut for the specific application. See QFP and chip package.

Semiconductor network encapsulated in a thin, rectangular package, with the necessary connecting leads projecting from the edges of the unit.
