flight information service

A service provided for the purpose of giving advice and information useful for the safe and efficient conduct of flights (ICAO). Flight information services include providing information on:
i. Pertinent SIGMETs (significant meteorological information) and AIRMETs (airmen's meteorological information).
ii. Pre-eruption and current volcanic activity, including volcanic and ash clouds.
iii. Changes in the navigational aids serviceability.
iv. Changes in the condition of aerodromes and their facilities.
v. Other information likely to affect safety.
vi. Current and forecast weather at the aerodrome of departure, destination, and alternate destinations.
vii. Collision hazards to aircraft operating in airspace classes C, D, E, F, and G.
viii. For flights over water areas, radio call signs, position, true track, speed, etc. of surface vessels in the area (to the extent possible and when requested by a pilot).
