| Follicular lymphoma is defined as a neoplasm of follicle center B lymphocytes (centrocytes and centroblasts) that has at least a partially follicular growth pattern. Hengartner of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge told a conference of cancer researchers last week that the roundworm gene resembles a so-called proto-on-cogene known to cause follicular lymphomas in humans. Two immunoglobulin G fragment C receptor polymorphisms independently predict response to rituximab in patients with follicular lymphoma. |
