An Integer Linear Programming model is developed for the first decision, backward scheduling logic for the second decision in solution methodology 1 and forward scheduling logic for the second decision in solution methodology 2.
In situations where backward scheduling tells us we do not have enough time to meet the delivery date, the system automatically switches to forward scheduling to find out the earliest date that we are able to complete the order.
When that happens, conventional scheduling systems, such as Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS), Forward Scheduling, Backward Scheduling, Finite Scheduling and Infinite Scheduling, usually recalculate the entire schedule.
