framework(1) See application framework and enterprise framework. framework [′frām‚wərk] (engineering) The load-carrying frame of a structure; may be of timber, steel, or concrete. (geology) In a sediment or sedimentary rock, the rigid arrangement created by particles that support one another at contact points. A fixed calcareous structure impervious to waves, built by sedentary organisms (for example, sponges, corals, and bryozoans) in a high-energy environment.
