front-facing camera

    0.01 sec.
front-facing camera
A camera in a laptop, tablet, smartphone or desktop computer monitor that has the lens facing the user on the same side as the screen. Also called a "Webcam," a front-facing camera is required to make video calls. Contrast with rear-facing camera. See Webcam and video calling.

Front and Rear
Motorola's Xoom tablet has a five megapixel (MP) camera (rear facing), but the front-facing Webcam has only two. The camera is used to take photos that might be printed; however, Webcams are used for real-time video calling, and 2MP is more than adequate.
