2. the device, usually an iron collar, used in such executions
3. Obsolete strangulation of one's victim while committing robbery

Horst Vogel a/k/a Jan Goldberg dispatches a former Nazi with cool efficiency by garroting him with a wire around his neck.
As many know, headphones and sleep are a risky combination: a) you can't sleep on your side as they usually break, b) garroting yourself is never pleasant, and c) pulling the whole stereo unit off the wall and onto your head is more common and painful than many think (I can personally vouch for this one).
