Gawk
A version of the awk pattern matching language from the GNU foundation. See awk and GNU.

David Trueman and Arnold Robbins of Georgia Institute of Technology were developing it in 1993. It has been ported to Unix, MS-DOS, Macintosh, and Archimedes.

Earlier this week on Monday, sites operated by Gawker Media crashed and it was later believed to be the result of a DDoS attack against The Consumerist blog, which is owned by Consumers Union but whose content is hosted by Gawker Media.
Earlier this week, servers belonging to Gawker Media, which publishes 10 blogs, including Consumerist, Deadspin and Gawker, were hit with a DoS attack.
