geometric mean

[¦jē·ə¦me·trik ′mēn]
(mathematics)
The geometric mean of n given quantities is the n th root of their product. Also known as geometric average.

geometric mean

(mathematics)
The Nth root of the product of N numbers.

If each number in a list of numbers was replaced with their geometric mean, then multiplying them all together would still give the same result. The geometric mean thus gives an average "factor" in a context where numbers are multiplied together, e.g. compound interest.

This encouraged geometric mean criteria standard reflects that of the conservative Ontario criteria standard, which would certainly aid in more direct comparisons between beach waters in Ontario and the U.
Other advantages of the union-based index are in what follows: It is constantly feasible for all technologies, It does not need to estimate the geometric mean of two different values, It is circular, When a new time period is added to the data it does not need recalculation, And no longer the benchmark of none of DMUs from the convex combination of two other units in different periods is made.
Another class of means with results close to the geometric mean is discussed in [27], where again the Karcher mean arises as a special case.
The consistency of void volume-pressure scans using different cylinder diameters, sample masses and various carbon blacks offers sufficient experimental evidence demonstrating that geometric mean pressure averaging provides a true void volume pressure scan that represents material characteristics of the carbon black sample (i.
As we noted in Section 1, the BLS has computed indices showing that the use of the geometric mean for mula has reduced the growth rate of the CPI by only 0.
Among all the criticisms leveled at the CPI, its use of the geometric mean formula to reflect consumer substitution behavior is undoubtedly the most frequently misunderstood and mischaracterized.
Among those 80 patients with a mismatch, the investigators found that at 90 days after treatment, the geometric mean relative growth of the infarct region in the treated group was only about two-thirds that of the placebo group (1.
Hartley Hyde takes us on a geometric tour in his latest Cactus column, investigating the link between the arithmetic mean, the geometric mean and the harmonic mean while introducing Geometric Expressions.
Toader briefly explored the work on Arithmetic mean, Geometric mean and Greek means.
Data presented in this study includes geometric mean and standard deviation with data assumed to be logarithmically normally distributed, an idea consistent with the ASAE standard (ASAE, 2003).
To overcome this problem, this report uses the geometric mean of the values at any given distance from the treated wood.
