gimbal [′gimĀ·bəl]
(engineering)
A device with two mutually perpendicular and intersecting axes of rotation, thus giving free angular movement in two directions, on which an engine or other object may be mounted.
In a gyro, a support which provides the spin axis with a degree of freedom.
To move a reaction engine about on a gimbal so as to obtain pitching and yawing correction moments.
To mount something on a gimbal.

CYCLOPS's camera is gimballed, which means it can emulate left-to-right and up-and-down head movements.
Electrically powered, it has a blended delta wing-and-fuse-lage configuration with downturned wingtip winglets that act as landing skids and thus protect the belly-mounted gimballed payload.
Both poems end with the fox imagined, in the head, but where Mort takes possession of the first fox, transforming it into an aspect of his poem, the second goes on without him, a dangerously free agent, "ears pricked, brush stiffening, all / senses turned in that gimballed head to lock onto the / hare upwind that hasn't yet imagined it must die.
