grenz ray [′grents ‚rā]
(nucleonics)
An x-ray produced at the long-wavelength end of the x-ray spectrum, involving wavelengths of the order of 1 to 10 angstroms (0.1 to 1 nanometer), by using special x-ray tubes that operate at voltages from only 5000 to 15,000 volts.
