hard disk player
(redirected from hard disk music player)

    0.01 sec.
hard disk player
A digital music player that stores songs on its hard disk. The hard disk holds considerably more titles than a "flash player," which uses built-in flash memory or a removable flash memory card.

Although the iPod popularized hard disk players, Creative Technology actually introduced a 6GB hard disk MP3 player in 2000, nearly two years earlier than Apple. See digital music player, MP3 and iPod.

The Reason Why
Tiny hard disks are the reason why digital music players can hold so many songs. This 3GB Cornice hard drive is shown with a standard sized business card. Using a 1" platter, it is approximately 1.7" x 1.4" by 2/10ths of an inch thick. (Image courtesy of Cornice, Inc.)
