It is important to increase the awareness of the relatively rare phenomenon of motor conversion disorder, as seen in "Conversion Disorder Presenting as Hemiplegia and Hemianesthesia with Loss of Neurologic Reflexes" in this month's Journal.
We present the case of a young woman who presented with sudden onset hemiplegia and hemianesthesia including unilateral loss of deep tendon reflexes, Babinski reflex, and loss of rectal tone with bladder incontinence.
Case records of the Massachusetts General Hospital: Weekly clinicopathological exercises--Case 27-1993: A 32-year-old man with the sudden onset of a right-sided headache and left hemiplegia and hemianesthesia.
