Homburg 

(also known as Bad Homburg or Bad Homburg-vorder-Höhe), a balneological health resort in the Federal Republic of Germany, near Frankfurt am Main, in the state of Hesse. Population, 51,300 (1973). The climate is mild and moderately dry, with an average July temperature of 18.7°C and an average September temperature of 13.5°C. Annual precipitation is about 600 mm. Therapeutic remedies include 12 cold (9.4°–11.9°C) sodium chloride and chalybeate springs, the water of which is used for baths, drinking, and inhalations. Peat and clay treatments are also offered. Persons afflicted with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and biliary tract are treated, as well as those suffering from gynecological problems, and metabolic disorders. There are sanatoriums, facilities for therapeutic baths, and a mechanotherapy institute in the city.
