Homomorphy
in biology, a considerable similarity, sometimes almost complete resemblance, of the representatives of two or more biological classifications (species, genera, families, and so forth) that are not directly related to one another. Homomorphy is a particular case of convergence. The term is often used in paleontological literature, sometimes to designate structures of organisms that are similar, but of independent origins.
