    0.03 sec.
humid climate [′hyü·məd ¦klī·mət]
(climatology)
A climate whose typical vegetation is forest. Also known as forest climate.

Humid Climate

a climate with an excess of moisture, in which the solar heat received is insufficient to evaporate all moisture occurring in the form of precipitation. Surplus water is removed by the surface drainage of streams and rivers. There are two types of humid climate. The polar type is characterized by the presence of permafrost and the absence of underground sources of surface waters; the phreatic type is characterized by partial seepage of precipitation into the soil and by the presence of underground sources. The term “humid climate” was proposed by A. Penck in his geomorphological classification of climates.
