| I also lean toward whatever hummable tunes are on my MP3 player. Book writer Winnie Holzman (``My So Called Life'') boiled down Maguire's novel to its simplistic essence and composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz (``Pippin,'' ``Godspell'') threw in some pop-friendly - and very hummable - tunes. And what they saw was a superbly written, elegantly produced 1950s Broadway show, complete with hummable score, charming comic business for lesser characters, and glamorous dancers swirling past the camera in ball gowns. |
