HI A water-soluble, colorless gas that may be used in organic synthesis and as a reagent. Also known as hydriodic acid gas.

That group relied on maintaining certain phase relationships between two laser beams to control whether a molecule of hydrogen iodide broke up or merely ejecte d an electron.
Recently, in a similar experiment using molecules of hydrogen iodide, Gordon's group succeeded in varying the amounts of two different reaction products merely by altering the phase difference between the two lasers.
