iPad Air

Two iPad models that were named for their light weight. Introduced in October 2013 and 2014, Air models have the same 9.7" screen and 2048x1536 resolution as previous iPads but are thinner and lighter. In 2014, a barometer and Touch ID fingerprint sensor were included. The rear camera jumped from 5 to 8 megapixels, and faster Wi-Fi (802.11ac) was added. As regular iPads became lighter, Air models were later discontinued. See iPad, iPad with Retina Display and Apple coprocessor.
