A plant cell that differs markedly in shape or function from neighboring cells within the same tissue.
(geology)
A mineral constituent of a metamorphic rock formed by recrystallization which is bounded by its own crystal faces.

As found in the tribe Spathicarpeae and in the subfamily Lemnoideae, articulated tubes (Ta) are encountered where the idioblastic raphide cells are in contact and may attach end to end.
