immunoglobulin E [‚im·yə·nō‚gläb·yə·lən ′ē]
(immunology)
A class of immunoglobulins present in minute amounts in normal human serum that is active against parasites and acts as a mediator of immediate hypersensitivity. Abbreviated IgE. Also known as reagin.

The immunoglobulin E (IgE) level was mildly elevated at 233 U/ml.
Saxon, Kepley, and colleagues constructed GE2 by combining Fc[epsilon]RI and Fc[gamma]RIIb, which are receptor binding regions of immunoglobulin E (IgE) and immunoglobulin G, respectively.
Clinically, it can simulate a neoplasm, and most patients have peripheral blood eosinophilia and elevated serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels.
