| Serum electrophoresis and immunofixation showed an increased [gamma]-globulin fraction with oligoclonal immunoglobulin G (IgG)[lambda] and IgG[kappa] components. Saxon, Kepley, and colleagues constructed GE2 by combining Fc[epsilon]RI and Fc[gamma]RIIb, which are receptor binding regions of immunoglobulin E (IgE) and immunoglobulin G, respectively. To strengthen the vaccine, the researchers added either two naturally occurring mammalian proteins called interleukin-2 and immunoglobulin G or the DNA that encodes those proteins. |
