(engineering)
A system of lighting in which more than 90% of the light from luminaires is distributed upward toward the ceiling, from which it is diffusely reflected.

indirect lighting
Lighting from luminaires which distribute 90% to 100% of the emitted light upward so that illumination is provided primarily by reflected light rather than by direct light.
