When the infructescences are immature, the perigynia are appressed to ascending in this species.
Unfortunately, during my two years living and working in Panama (February 1999 to April 2001), I only ever found old infructescences and one half-eaten pale yellow flower, which is not enough to be certain of their identity.
He discussed Berry's generic affiliation of the fossil fruits and considered that, because the fruits came from the same level as the leaves, the fossil infructescences could belong to Lomatia.
