(metallurgy)
Localized attack occurring along the crystal boundaries of a metal or alloy. Also known as intergranular corrosion.

Intercrystalline Corrosion 

a type of corrosion of metals that attacks only the surface layers of the grains (crystal-lites) and penetrates metal objects along the grain boundaries (surfaces). Intercrystalline corrosion leads to the destruction of metal articles along the grain boundaries.
