This result is consistent with the upward coral reef growth-rate curve from Barbados (Fairbanks 1989) when that is corrected for the isostatic perturbations, as well as with the results from the rapidly uplifting Huon Peninsula of Papua New Guinea (Chappell & Pollach 1991) once tectonic and isostatic corrections are applied.
These estimates are derived from localities where the isostatic corrections are believed to be small such that they can be estimated in an iterative manner (Nakada & Lambeck 1988).
