You can straighten the edges of a finished surface, you can take rough surfaces off of the board with a jack plane, and you can even up those irregular marks with a fore plane.
A jack plane is used for rough shaping and comes in twelve to fifteen inch sizes.
They were jack plane (18 " or 24 " Stanley), 1- 1/2 " Swedish steel chisel, hatchet, Yankee Patent screwdriver, hand saw, coping saw, square, door butt, gauge, brace and bits.
