A steel bar, one end of which is flattened; sometimes slightly bent; used for heavy prying, and as a lever for moving heavy objects.

The grandkids have had to wrestle me to the ground and sit on me while the wife jemmies the wallet out of my hands with a crowbar to pay the Have-a-Nice-Day girl the equivalent of a fortnight in Bermuda.
I'm very nervous and every noise had me imagining masked men in stripy jumpers with jemmies and swag bags.
