Kai 

a group of islands in the northwestern part of the Arafura Sea, south of New Guinea. They belong to the Moluccas of the Malay Archipelago and are part of Indonesia. The island group consists of two large islands (Kai Besar and Kai Ketjil) and several small ones. Total area, approximately 1,500 sq km. Kai Besar, a volcanic island with an elevation of up to 800 m, is covered with dense tropical forest; Kai Ketjil is a low coral island with coconut palm groves. Sweet potatoes, corn, rice, and tobacco are cultivated, and there is fishing.
