Dissolution of a cell nucleus.

Karyolysis 

dissolution of the nucleus of a cell; the laststage of necrobiosis (following karyopyknosis and karyorrhexis)before the death of a cell. In the karyolytic nucleus the ability to be stained is lost, since the nucleic acids break down intophosphoric acid and purine bases, which do not take up basicdyes.
