kick [kik] (petroleum engineering) Entry of fluid into the wellbore when the pressure of the column of drilling fluid is insufficient to withstand the pressure of the fluids in the formation being drilled. (ordnance) Violent backward movement of a gun after being fired, caused by the rearward force of the propellant gases acting on the gun.

| Michael Sieben is just hilarious, Canvas was killer, plenty of bands, Anti Hero was good too, and Dollin's kickflip wallride to fakie kicked ass. Virginia Postrel's piece on Buffy the Vampire Slayer ("Why Buffy Kicked Ass," August/September) is a welcome meditation on the libertarian aspects of that series, although Buffy is not always consciously or consistently an advocate of free markets or individual liberty. Also in November, Rock `n Roll Hall of Famer Carlos Santana was awarded the distinction of "Man of the Year" at the My VH-1 Music Awards, and "Smooth" ruled in the "Your Song Kicked Ass But Was Played Too Damn Much" competition. |
