Amplification of kinetoplast DNA as a tool in the detection and diagnosis of Leishmania. A nested PCR based schizodeme method for identifying Leishmania kinetoplast minicircle classes directly from clinical samples and its application to the study of the epidemiology of Leishmania tropica in Pakistan. They used DNA not form the cell nuclei but from an accessory body, called the kinetoplast or micronucleus, which is found in many protozoa. |
