| Degussa AG in Germany advocates a very different approach--film lamination instead of spin coating. It's a combination of PVB and PET films with an extra anti-scratch coating on the latter that can be applied to a single layer of standard glass using a traditional lamination process, and keeps glass shards in place until the part is replaced. The facility will produce 37,500 tons of packaging and lamination plastics a year and should start up in 2007. |
