Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Medical, Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
Laryngeal Hemiplegia

(also roaring), dyspnea accompanied by wheezing; an abnormality in horses that is manifested during exercise. The disorder results from the paralysis of the intrinsic muscles of the larynx and the retraction of the ary tenoid cartilages. Medication usually does not produce results, although operations on the larynx are effective. The work capacity of horses affected with laryngeal hemiplegia decreases.
