CH3(CH2)11OH A colorless solid which is obtained from coconut oil fatty acids, has a floral odor, and boils at 259°C; used in detergents, lubricating oils, and pharmaceuticals.

Stepan Company is offering a naturally-derived secondary surfactant called Stepan-Mild L3 (INCI: Lauryl lactyl lactate), which is a reaction product of lauryl alcohol and lactic acid.
This formula was compared to a positive control, a leave-on moisturizer containing a lamellar lipid gel system (ProLipid 141 [INCI: Glyceryl stearate (and) behenyl alcohol (and) palmitic acid (and) stearic acid (and) lecithin (and) lauryl alcohol (and) myristyl alcohol (and) cetyl alcohol]}, and two negative controls, a water wash and no treatment.
3 Inutec SP 1(INCI: Inulin lauryl carbamate), an emulsifier and emulsion stabilizer obtained from bonding inulin (chicory root) and lauryl alcohol moieties via a carbamate linkage, can emulsify high amounts of natural oils, butters and waxes either alone or in complex mixtures in typically less than 1% quantity.
