Lek (lĕk), northern arm of the Rhine River, 40 mi (64 km) long, branching from the Neder Rijn (Lower Rhine), central Netherlands, and flowing W into the Nieuwe Maas (New Meuse) River. one of the main arms of the Rhine delta in the Netherlands. The river, which is approximately 200 km long, is navigable. The large city and port of Rotterdam is on the Lek.
