Liaison Officer 

an officer assigned to a higher staff headquarters or to the staff headquarters of subordinate or coordinating units for purposes of establishing liaison with them and for carrying out assignments.

A liaison officer is usually provided with a means of transportation (motorcycle, automobile, airplane, or helicopter) and, if necessary, with radio stations. Liaison officers are also sent from a senior commander to subordinate commanders to carry out important assignments.
