Liberation

Liberation 

two bourgeois organizations of the French Resistance in World War II that operated during the occupation of France by Nazi Germany. The organizations were known as Liberation Nord in the north of France and as Liberation Sud in the south. Beginning in 1943 the two were represented in the Council of National Resistance. The organizations published a newspaper, Liberation.

The only thing that seemed clear to me -- and perhaps even this was fanciful -- was that he was passionately striving for liberation from some power that held him.
