While investment in crop improvement is generally to be encouraged in any farm land, this particular variety of Arabica does not have the liquoring (cupping) qualities of the now referred to as "traditional cultivars" Kenya varieties SL28 and SL34 developed by Scot Laboratories in British colonial times, which trace their lineage back to the old growth French Mission coffees of more than a century ago.
There are no drink specials here, so if you plan on liquoring up, you should be prepared to pay the customary Southland prices ($5 to $10 per drink).
