Schlumbergera, as they are more correctly known, originated from the tropical rain forests of south-east Brazil, living as epiphytes in the branches of tree or as lithophytes on rocks.
Lithophytes orchids are, unlike the Epiphytes, better placed on a low space, they are known as orchids that grow on the bases of trees and they enjoy feeding on organic nutrition such as rich organic soil and discomposed mildews.
